By Thor Kamban Biberman | The San Diego Daily Transcript

A 127-unit, mixed-use project at 8th & B streets in National City reached a milestone in its construction on Feb. 8 with the completion of structural wood framing.

The building, which is being developed by Malick Infill Development and Protea Properties, is expected to be completed by late summer.

The Miller Hull Partnership, LLP designed the eight-story structure. Other team members include DCI Engineers, and H+W Engineers for the structural engineering work; Cannon Constructors South, Inc. as the general contractor; McCullough Landscape Architecture, Inc.; and Tecture, Inc., which is handling the interiors.

“With its strong local identity, rich history, diverse character, and small town vibe, National City is ideally positioned to join the urban renaissance happening throughout the region,” the project’s team members said in a joint release. “We are committed to creating a place that delivers on this promise, contributes to the fabric of the community, and enriches the downtown experience.”
