Completed in 2001, this project gave a long vacant building that had been damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake a new life. It is a case study project as featured in the Architectural Graphic Standards as an example of large scale adaptive reuse in a seismic zone. Originally built in 1927, the building was seismically reinforced and two stories were added to the existing concrete structure. A new skin was also hung on the building masking its age and former life. Andrew Malick was a Project Engineer for this development.
