At a recent American Planning Association “virtual brownbag” event, our Director of Planning Kathy Breedlove presented a behind-the-scenes look at how the Malick Infill team helped make the Bayview development the first project in San Diego to be awarded a CEQA exemption as a Sustainable Communities Transit Priority Project.

The Bayview project is a well-designed gateway to Bay Park / Clairemont and a model for transit-oriented development in San Diego. Serving as a community gathering place with restaurants and a market, the project also offers pedestrian improvements around the site including landscaped sidewalks.

  • This mixed-use Transit Oriented Development that meets Climate Action Plan Goals and provides housing density (and affordable housing) near transit

  • It is the first SB 375 CEQA Exemption in San Diego

  • It exceeds 30 foot height limit and won support of the Community Planning Group

  • Successful collaboration between City staff, Developer, SANDAG, and MTS
